Call for Roadmap K12 Applications for Multidisciplinary Clinical Research Scholars Program

The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics is pleased to announce that the UCSF Multidisciplinary Clinical Research Scholars Program (Roadmap K12) is now accepting applications for positions starting July 1, 2006. This is a career development program for clinical and translational research scholars, which is part of a National Institutes of Health (NIH) Roadmap initiative to develop independent clinical investigators with skills for leading research teams of scientists from diverse disciplines. Eight to nine scholars will be selected this year at the junior faculty or fellow level. Faculty Scholars will receive 50 percent to 75 percent salary support (based on a salary up to the NIH cap of $180,100) to pursue clinical and translational research projects for two to five years with training and mentoring, and fellows will receive 100 percent salary for two to three years. The program includes a Masters degree in Clinical Research; support for research, travel, and mentors; and access to core faculty who provide guidance in research design, measurement and questionnaire design, recruitment and study coordination, data management and biostatistical analysis, and grant writing. Candidates must submit a letter of intent by Monday, Nov. 14. Full applications are due Feb. 6, 2006.
