Free Oral Cancer Screening Clinic on April 15
UCSF is offering a free oral cancer screening clinic on Friday, April 15, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Mount Zion, 2380 Sutter St., on the second floor.
The free public screening for oral cancer will be offered on a drop-in basis during this event in observance of the Eighth Yul Brynner International Oral and Head & Neck Cancer Awareness Week, which runs April 11-17.
The clinic is sponsored by the UCSF Department of Otolaryngology and the Head and Neck Surgery practice at UCSF Medical Center at Mount Zion. Educational materials and resources also will be available. The clinic also is supported in part by the Yul Brynner Cancer Foundation.
Head and neck cancers account for 3 percent of all cancers in the US. Tobacco and alcohol use are the most important risk factors for head and neck cancers, particularly those of the oral cavity, oropharynx, hypopharynx, and larynx, according to the Yul Brynner Cancer Foundation website.
