"Lesbian Health Matters" theme for 3rd annual UCSF conference

The 3rd annual UCSF Lesbian Health Research Conference, held in conjunction with San Francisco’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month celebrations, will convene Saturday, June 14, at the San Francisco LGBT Community Center.

Kate O’Hanlan, MD, a gynecological oncologist and former Gay and Lesbian Medical Association president will give the keynote presentation to the expected 200 attendees from around the country.

“Our focus this year is on why lesbian health matters for the lesbian, her family, her healthcare provider, and her community” said Suzanne Dibble, DNSc, RN. Dibble is a UCSF adjunct professor of nursing and co-director of the Lesbian Health Research Center at UCSF along with Patricia Robertson, MD, UCSF professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences.

Talks about lesbian health across the lifespan, including one titled “The current political climate and dangers for lesbian health,” are part of the program. Screening tests available will include height/weight, blood pressure, thyroid checks and bone density.
