Archive: City of San Francisco and UCSF announce Mercury Thermometer Exchange Program
The City and County of San Francisco and UCSF have established a free mercury thermometer exchange program for the community. The program has been instituted to reduce mercury thermometer use because of the dangers of mercury which is a bioaccumulative and toxic pollutant.
UCSF’s Millberry Union Bookstore will be the permanent location for the public to exchange mercury thermometers for free digital thermometers. The MU Bookstore is open Monday-Friday from 8 am-6 pm and Saturday from 10 am-5 pm.
## There will be an official inauguration of the Mercury Thermometer Exchange Program, as follows:
