UCSF neurosurgeons at San Francisco General Hospital Medical Center will conduct a clinical trial this fall to see if lowering the body temperature of patients with severe traumatic brain injury will help improve their condition.  The national trial will require treating patients, all of whom are unconscious, within four hours of their injury.  Sever traumatic brain injury is one of the leading causes of death and permanent disability due to head injuries in persons between the ages one and forty-five.  For more information, call 415/206-3220.
