UCSF’s School of Medicine placed in the top five nationally in this year’s U.S. News & World Report survey of best graduate and professional schools. UCSF’s biomedical science PhD programs were among the top 10, and the School of Nursing was also highly ranked.
Charles Wilson, MD, a world-renowned neurosurgeon and UCSF professor emeritus, who served as chair of the Department of Neurological Surgery for nearly 30 years and founded the University’s Brain Tumor Research Center, has died. He was 88.
Seven out of 10 trainee surgeons surveyed experienced burnout driven by emotional exhaustion, “depersonalization” and doubts about their effectiveness at work, impacting their own performance and potentially patients’ health.
