UCSF to Offer Free Screening for Oral, Head and Neck Cancer on April 25

In observance of Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week, the UCSF Head and Neck Surgery/Oncology Practice will provide free drop-in exams on Friday, April 25. People can come to the clinic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2380 Sutter St., second floor. for free exams. The screening is part of a weeklong, nationwide effort to increase public awareness of oral, head and neck cancer, the sixth most common cancer diagnosed in the United States. The UCSF practice, located at Sutter and Divisadero Streets, is under the direction of David W. Eisele, MD, chair of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Drop-in participants whose examination warrants further evaluation will receive a brief written summary. Resources also will be available on a wide range of topics, including oral, head and neck self-examination and smoking cessation.
