Comedian Alec Mapa to Perform Live at UCSF

The campus community is invited to attend a free performance by Alec Mapa on Friday, April 25, 8 p.m. at Cole Hall on the UCSF Parnassus campus.

Mapa is an actor, writer and comedian who appears regularly on TV, including ABC's award-winning shows Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives.

He is also openly gay and lends his support to various projects supporting the GLBT and Asian communities. A native of San Francisco, Mapa attended George Washington High School. His break came when he was asked to star in the Broadway production of M. Butterfly. His television credits also include Jamie Foxx Show, Roseanne, Seinfeld, NYPD Blue, Friends, Murder One and Dharma & Greg. His most recent television acting role has been as Vern, Gabrielle's gay best friend, on the hit ABC series Desperate Housewives. Mapa's film credits include parts in Bright Lights, Big City, Playing by Heart and Connie and Carla, among others. He was recently featured in the movie Super Sweet 16: The Movie. Currently, Mapa is hosting Transamerican Love Story, a reality dating program starring a transgender woman who is selecting from among eight potential suitors. Related Links: Arts & Events
