UCSF to Host Focus the Nation Teach-in

UCSF Medical Center, in association with the University of California Center for Occupational and Environmental Health, will sponsor "Focus the Nation," a national teach-in, on Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 30 and 31. Focus The Nation is an unprecedented educational initiative on global warming solutions for America occurring at more than 1,000 universities and colleges and in all 50 states on Jan. 31. As the largest teach-in in US history, Focus the Nation is preparing millions of students to become leaders in the largest challenge any generation has faced. "We stand at a unique moment in human history," the Focus the Nation website states. "Decisions that are ours to make today - to stabilize global warming pollution and invest in clean energy solutions - will have a profound impact not only on our lives and the lives of our children, but indeed for every human being who will ever walk the face of the planet from now until the end of time. At this moment in time, we owe our young people one day of focused discussion about global warming solutions for America." UCSF is planning two days of compelling speakers and a movie screening at the Parnassus campus. On Jan. 31, from 4:30 to 6 p.m., Focus the Nation will stream a live, interactive webcast called "The 2% Solution" in the Clinical Sciences Building, room C 701.
