UCSF to Host Summer Picnic Concerts in August

Arts & Events is hosting three summertime picnic concerts on August 14, 15 and 16 at Parnassus, Mission Center Building and Mission Bay, respectively. Free entertainment is by the San Francisco-based group Kapakahi, which in Hawaiian translates to twisted, bent and confused. The group's sound, which brings together five different musical and geographical backgrounds, is an eclectic mix of catchy pop, hip-hop, reggae, Latin and some funk. Hear a sample of Kapakahi's music here. This group, which began performing in a garage in the Mission District, is now performing in venues in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. The summer picnics are sponsored by Campus Life Services' Arts & Events Orbit Music Series and are supported by proceeds from Vendor Services. The lunches, served first come first served, vary at each campus site and advance-purchase tickets are now on sale for the Parnassus and Mission Center Building picnics.
