UCSF to Host Faculty Welcoming Activities

Plans are underway for UCSF's second Faculty Information and Welcoming Week scheduled for September 10 through 12. All faculty members are invited to attend. Participants will hear brief program overviews about compensation and benefits, child care resources, and library resources during the morning session. Following a networking luncheon, faculty members can participate in one-hour didactic workshops on topics including mentoring, building a research career, and managing difficult work situations. The program will be repeated at three UCSF sites during the week. The dates and locations are as follows: * Monday, September 10: Veterans Affairs Medical Center
* Tuesday, September 11: Parnassus Heights campus
* Wednesday, September 12: San Francisco General Hospital To register for the event or see the complete schedule, go here. Faculty Information and Welcoming Week is sponsored by the Chancellor's Council on Faculty Life (CCFL) and is one of the initiatives to create a supportive work environment for faculty. Recommendations to provide a more supportive work environment for faculty and staff are also a significant part of the UCSF Strategic Plan, which was unveiled in June. The strategic plan, a guide for UCSF's growth and development for the next two decades, calls for measures such as developing effective mentoring programs for all at UCSF and grooming and promoting the next generation of UCSF leadership. The entire strategic plan is posted here. Related Links: Academic Affairs UCSF Hosts Inaugural Faculty Welcoming Week
