UCSF's Children's Hospital Now Serving as School for Kids Battling Chronic Diseases

Classes began yesterday for School Number 864 of the San Francisco Unified School District, located at UCSF Children's Hospital where pediatric patients can continue classes while undergoing treatment. For a KGO-TV story, teacher Julie Pollman, lead teacher in the hospital's Child Life Department, explains, "We're modeled on the little one-room-schoolhouse concept, so we can have a kindergartner at one table working on shapes, colors and letters and we can have a high school student working on advanced placement calculus courses."
