Using Magnets to Perform Delicate Procedures

More than 20 years ago, UCSF pioneered cardiac ablation surgery to help patients with erratic heartbeats by zapping their hearts. Now they've opened an impressive new high-tech surgery suite to improve this surgery. The result is a drive to discover a safer surgery for both patients and physicians. Jeffrey Olgin, MD, UCSF chief of cardiac electrophysiology, performs surgery on a patient with a common heart problem called atrial fibrillation.
