Former UC Regent Staff Advisor to Speak About Role

The Staff Council at UCSF is hosting a presentation on the position of staff advisor to the UC Regents. UC Regents on Jan. 18 approved a permanent staff advisor program, designed to improve direct communication between UC employees and to get staff input on the board's deliberations and decisions. Under this program, two staff employees serve as nonvoting advisors on designated Regents' committees. UCSF's David Bell, the 2005-2006 staff advisor, will talk about the position on Monday, Feb. 12, from noon to 1 p.m. in Health Sciences West, room 301, on the Parnassus campus. Light refreshments will be served. Bell and Dave Miller of UCLA served as the first two staff advisors during the pilot year of the program. To ensure continuity of experience, Miller is continuing to serve through the second year of the program. The 2006-2007 staff advisor designate is Lynda Brewer, who was selected by UC President Robert Dynes. Brewer also will serve in 2007-2008 as staff advisor. Applications are now being sought for the 2007-2008 staff advisor designate position. The application period will then run until Wednesday, Feb. 28. For more information about the program, go to the UC Staff Advisor Program website. The key contact for the program at the UC Office of the President is Judy Boyette, associate vice president for Human Resources and Benefits. Questions about the program should be directed to Bill Neff at 510/987-9996. Related Links: Longtime UCSF Staff Advocate to Join Board of Regents in July
