UCSF Begins New Season of Chancellor's Concert Series

One of the most popular perks about working at UCSF is enjoying a free concert on Thursday afternoons on the Parnassus campus. The Chancellor's Concert Series - now in its eighth year - runs from January 5 to March 9 in Cole Hall in the Medical Sciences Building, 513 Parnassus Ave. The concert series offers the campus community free entertainment, exposure to talented performing artists, and a chance to unwind and eat lunch in a relaxed atmosphere. Drawing from a talented pool of professional and semiprofessional musicians, mostly members of the San Francisco Symphony and faculty from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, the concerts feature favorite works by classical composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Mendelssohn and others. Funded by Chancellor Mike Bishop and produced by Arts & Events, part of Campus Life Services, the concerts enable folks to eat their lunch before enjoying the entertainment. Eating time is between noon and 12:15 p.m., and the concerts run from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. No taping is allowed, and those attending are asked to keep their beepers and cellular phones silent. Members of the public are welcome.
