D’Anne Duncan, PhD
D’Anne believes that helping students succeed starts with making them feel seen, valued, and supported. Through her leadership in graduate education and student advocacy, she has helped shape a UCSF experience where students can thrive both personally and professionally.

Much of Paul’s work happens behind the scenes, but its impact is felt across every corner of UCSF. Through innovation, sustainability, and a commitment to reliability, he’s helped ensure that the university’s campuses remain resilient places for learning, discovery and healing.

Maria is driven by a belief that people do their best work when they feel supported, trusted, and empowered to grow. By improving systems, removing barriers, and fostering collaboration, she has helped create an environment where the UCSF community can thrive and lead into the future.

Xin-Hua Chen, LCSW
For Xin-Hua, caring for patients means caring for the people who stand beside them every step of the way. Through compassion, advocacy, and a deep commitment to easing the burdens families face, she has helped create a more supportive and humane experience for patients at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.
Michael Jones, MSc
Michael believes that opportunity can transform lives. By building workforce pathways and wraparound support systems, he has helped create career opportunities that empower Bay Area residents while strengthening UCSF’s commitment to serving the community.

Robert’s journey to UCSF is grounded in resilience, service, and finding ways to lift others up. Through his leadership in global health initiatives and AIDS Walk San Francisco, he has helped improve lives while bringing compassion and purpose to every community he serves.

Carina Marquez, MD, MPH
Carina has dedicated her career to bridging community and clinic, inspired by her own family’s experiences navigating barriers to health care. Through trusted partnerships and language-concordant care, she has helped expand access to testing, vaccines, and preventive services for communities across San Francisco.
Robert W. Williams, III
Robert has devoted his life to serving communities deeply affected by HIV. Through education, outreach, and advocacy, he has become a trusted voice in expanding awareness, connection, and access to care across the Bay Area.
Distinguished Nurse Award
Audrey Basic, RN, MS, CNIII
For Audrey, nursing is rooted in compassion, teamwork, and being present for patients on their hardest days. In caring for critically ill cardiac patients and mentoring fellow nurses, she has helped create a culture of confidence, support, and exceptional care at UCSF.
