The UCSF Center for Gender Equity will host "Women Leaders 2006: A Symposium for Women in University Settings" on May 16 and 17 at the Parc 55 Hotel in San Francisco. Early registration is advised, since all previous symposiums have sold out. Early bird registration ends Friday, March 10. Open to the campus community, the conference will offer wonderful opportunities for education, inspiration and connection for all university women and particularly those at the University of California. Participants can select from 30 workshops in three tracks -- Leadership, Personal Development and Communication; attend a special reception; browse or buy from an on-site bookstore; and enjoy an exciting Women Artisans Galleria. Keynote speakers include:

  • Angela Davis, teacher, writer, scholar, activist and author of five books, including "Women, Race and Class";
  • Winona LaDuke, Native American activist, environmentalist, economist, writer and vice presidential nominee of the United States Green Party;
  • California State Senator Jackie Speier (invited); and
  • Jan Yanehiro, media personality and Emmy award-winning former host of Evening Magazine.
