Soaringwords, a nonprofit organization that runs a number of programs for sick kids, recently spread a little bit of sunshine to patients at UCSF Children's Hospital.
Medical professionals and Child Life specialists use Soaringwords as a tool to help patients and families maintain a positive outlook and never give up.
Soaringwords greeters came bearing gifts of quilts and pillows decorated by children from the Excelsior Boys' and Girls' Club as well as volunteers from US Trust and Charles Schwab.
"When a child is ill, his or her entire family is in crisis. Soaringwords' unique focus on healing the child and his or her family and friends brings something totally new and needed," noted Lisa Honig Buksbaum, Soaringwords CEO and founder.

Hundreds of thousands of caring people visit the Soaringwords Resource Center and enjoy Soaringwords community service activities each year. The organization inspires ill children through innovative Soaringwords Hospital Outreach programs, Educational Outreach programs, and Soaringwords Youth Leaders programs.
"How good it feels to the children, families and staff of UCSF Children's Hospital to receive the love and good will of San Francisco and Soaringwords that come with these lovely pillows, and quilts," said Child Life Specialist Michael Towne, MA, CCLS, at UCSF Children's Hospital. "That the children of Excelsior Boys and Girls Club are sharing their creations with the hospitalized children at UCSF Children's Hospital warms my heart."
