Final Days to Sign Up for AIDS Walk San Francisco

Members of the campus community only have a few days left to contribute to AIDS Walk San Francisco, slated for Sunday, July 18 in Golden Gate Park.

UCSF faculty, staff, students and trainees and their friends and families are encouraged to either register to take the 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) trek or contribute funds online or give a check to someone who is part of the spirited UCSF contingent.

The UCSF AIDS Walk Steering Committee has set a goal of raising a combined total of $45,000.

This year, the UCSF team that raises the most money per person in AIDS Walk San Francisco will get to greet UCSF Chancellor Sue Desmond-Hellmann, MD, MPH, who will offer her congratulations and present a trophy at a casual afternoon gathering in the Mission Bay pub on Tuesday, August 3.

As of July 8, it looks like the UCSF School of Medicine team – which has raised more than $4,500 – will be chatting it up with the chancellor in the pub. To join a team or see the latest results, go to the AIDS Walk San Francisco team statistics page.

Those who donate $25 or more to the cause will receive a UCSF AIDS Walk T-shirt, which was designed exclusively for this event by Nada Salam, senior design director at UCSF Public Affairs. Salam’s bright and optimistic design creatively uses the red ribbon and was the top choice among most steering committee members.

Everyone who participates in AIDS Walk San Francisco or volunteers at the UCSF station also will enjoy a free catered breakfast by Peasant Pies and free catered lunch by Panini Time. Special thanks to Panini Time, which is generously donating 50 of the lunches.

A special $5 flat rate for parking is available in the Irving Street garage at the UCSF Parnassus campus.
