UCSF Offers Free Flu Shots to Faculty, Staff and Students

Faculty, staff, students and volunteers at UCSF may get a free flu shot at ongoing drop-in clinics at several locations through October 21.

The flu shots are available for free to those who have a valid UCSF identification badge.

Everyone six months of age and older should get a yearly flu vaccine, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Ample supplies of the influenza vaccine are available now. It takes about two week after vaccination for a person to develop an immune response so it is recommended that everyone get vaccinated as soon as possible to be protected. In the United States, the flu season usually begins in October and can last until May, according to the CDC. Learn more about the virus that causes the flu on the CDC website.

The flu shots will be administered at the following locations: Parnassus, Mount Zion, Mission Bay, Mission Center, Laurel Heights, China Basin, Executive Park and at 2300 Harrison Street.

Parnassus Campus

Moffitt Hospital, 505 Parnassus Ave., Room M 286: Monday through Friday, Oct. 10 to Oct. 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
