UCSF Children's Hospital patient celebrates hope at Obama inauguration

James Kessler, a 17-year-old patient at UCSF Children’s Hospital who is battling a rare form of cancer, traveled to Washington, DC, to witness President Obama’s inauguration. Kessler and his mom, Jean Rowcliffe of San Francisco, received a pair of inaugural tickets from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Kessler and Rowcliffe had previously traveled to Chicago for election night, courtesy of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The San Francisco Chronicle and NBC -TV Bay Area (Ch 11)  covered the courageous story of Kessler and how Barack Obama’s message of hope has inspired him.
