UCSF Teams Rally Walkers for AIDS Walk San Francisco

UCSF walkers are busy getting sponsors and rallying their co-workers to join them in the San Francisco AIDS Walk on Sunday, July 15. For the third year in a row, UCSF teams will compete for the quirky, yet highly sought-after UCSF AIDS Walk Trophy, a bronzed running shoe formerly worn and donated by Chancellor Mike Bishop, MD. The team that raises the most money proportionately, as happened last year will win the trophy. A team from the UCSF Summer Research Training Program won the trophy, with 62 percent participating in the 2006 AIDS Walk, which celebrated its 20th anniversary raising funds for AIDS research, education and patient services. This year's UCSF teams are listed on the AIDS Walk San Francisco website. Last year, UCSF teams collectively raised $69,323. This year, the UCSF AIDS Walk Steering Committee has set a goal of $75,000, according to Carol Fox, event coordinator and director of special programs in the UCSF Public Affairs department. In addition to the trophy, UCSF will award prizes in the following categories: * To the walker who raises the most money * To the first-time walker who raises the most money among first-time walkers * To the walker who raises the most money by June 15 * To the winner of the T-shirt design contest T-Shirt Design Contest UCSF again is offering a prize to the person who submits the winning design for the event T-shirt. The design criteria for the UCSF AIDS Walk T-shirt are as follows: * Color limit: Use only two colors. Bold colors are preferred. * Design should complement the T-shirt color, which will be either white, black or light gray. * Design must appear on front of shirt and should fill it, with element also on the sleeve. * Official UCSF logo must be used appropriately and large with UCSF's new tagline: advancing health worldwide.™ See UCSF's Visual Identity Standards for design tips.
