Ask a Pediatrician Tonight on KQED

UCSF Children's Hospital pediatrician Shannon Thyne, MD, will be featured tonight on KQED Channel 9's Ask a Pediatrician live call-in program, which will focus on childhood obesity, asthma, and oral health. Ask a Pediatrician is part of a new "FAQ" series of programs produced and airing on KQED Channel 9. The 30-minute-long program features a host and two expert pediatricians who will address pre-determined questions about childhood health issues. In addition to the experts, there will be a phone bank of 18 physicians who will respond to viewers who call in with questions about children's health. Several other UCSF Children's Hospital pediatricians will participate in the phone bank, including Bernetta Avery, MD, Glenn Rosenbluth, MD, and Anda Kuo, MD. "Our participation in the program demonstrates the faculty members' commitment to public health awareness and the importance of partnering with community organizations around child health," Kuo said. The goal of Ask A Pediatrician is to provide parents and others caring for children approximately two to eight years of age, with valuable, tangible and user-friendly information about three specific childhood health topics: Obesity (with a focus on nutrition and physical exercise), asthma care and prevention and dental care. One of the nation's top children's hospitals, UCSF Children's Hospital creates an environment where children and their families find compassionate care at the healing edge of scientific discovery, with more than 150 experts in 50 medical specialties serving patients throughout Northern California and beyond.
