UCSF will celebrate the life and legacy of the late civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., beginning Tuesday with an awards ceremony to recognize those advancing diversity.
The campus community is invited to the MLK awards ceremony, to be held from noon to 2 p.m., in Cole Hall, Medical Sciences Building, 513 Parnassus Ave.
The ceremony will honors three people chosen from the faculty, staff and students who have furthered the goal of achieving ethnic diversity within the UCSF community. Read the story about the awardees

Keynote Speech: Bobby Vaughn, assistant professor and director of the Office of Mission and Diversity, Notre Dame de Namur University, will give the keynote speech titled "Mexican Blackness: Afro-Mexicans Past and Present," on Wednesday, Jan. 18, noon to 1 p.m., UCSF Kalmanovitz Library, Lange Room, fifth floor, 530 Parnassus Ave.
Orbit Music Series: Jules Broussard, a jazz saxophonist, will perform with his five-piece band at three locations. A consummate professional, Broussard's career spans over three decades. He has shared studio and stage time with such music luminaries as Ray Charles, Boz Scaggs, Van Morrison, Carlos Santana, Earl Grant, Elvin Bishop, Art Garfunkel and Doctor Hook.
