Project Overview

UCSF has completed its acquisition of a parcel of land known as Blocks 33 and 34, directly across Third Street from the UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay, which is scheduled to open February 1, 2015.

While development plans for the site are still being formulated, UCSF intends to develop it as designated in the Mission Bay South Redevelopment Plan and following the plan guidelines for height, bulk, setbacks, streetscape landscaping and other design matters.

The plans are a central element of UCSF’s efforts to create a sustainable financial future by consolidating its leased and remote sites.   This project provides an opportunity to continue building the future of Mission Bay as a neighborhood and enhance the City's ability to address its priorities. Acquisition of this site included up-front payments that accelerate development of affordable housing and open space in Mission Bay. The nature of these payments is further described in this Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure memorandum.
