Maureen Brodie Named Director of UCSF Office of the Ombuds

Maureen Brodie, MA, CO-OP, has been named the new director of UC San Francisco’s Office of the Ombuds.

Brodie was selected for the position after a nationwide search.

“Maureen is known for her outstanding vision and desire to improve the climate at UCSF, her collaborative and egalitarian leadership style, and her ability, through the years, to earn the trust and respect of UCSF leadership and key stakeholders,” said Vice Provost of Academic Affairs Brian Alldredge, PharmD.

The UCSF Office of the Ombuds provides alternative dispute resolution services for all faculty, staff, administrators, students, post-doctoral fellows and other trainees at all sites, including UCSF Medical Center. The services, which are protected from disclosure, offer a safe, confidential place to discuss campus-related issues and explore possibilities for informally addressing concerns.

Brodie, a Certified Organizational Ombuds Practitioner (CO-OP), has more than 20 years of experience mediating workplace conflicts in higher education, California state agency and private sector settings. In addition to mediation services, she also offers individual consultation and coaching group facilitation and trainings.

She has worked as a mediation officer and associate ombuds at UCSF since 2010, and she helped to launch the Office of the Ombuds in 2011. She has served as interim director and ombuds for the past eight months.
