UCSF's Laurel Heights Campus Closed Due to Power Outage

Update at 10 p.m. Sunday: Power has been restored to the Laurel Heights campus, and the building will be open for business Monday morning.

Pacific Gas & Electric discovered a badly damaged high voltage switch that was responsible for last Tuesday's and Thursday's outage, and worked through the weekend to repair it. Power was restored around 7:45 p.m. Sunday.

Facilities Services director Maric Munn says individual offices may experience some problems with lights Monday morning and those problems should be reported to the Facilities Customer Service Center at 415-476-2021.

Update at 2:30 p.m. Friday: The power outage at the Laurel Heights campus continues, and it's still unclear when the building will reopen.

Pacific Gas & Electric is testing electrical equipment at the site and has not yet been able to identify the cause of the outage to begin repairs. Facilities Management closed the building Thursday night, and the closure is expected to remain in effect through Saturday, said UCSF Police Chief Pamela Roskowski.
