UCSF Receives Second Shipment of H1N1 Vaccine

UCSF has received its second shipment of H1N1 vaccine, containing about 2,400 doses, according to Josh Adler, MD, chief medical officer of UCSF Medical Center.

Beginning Nov. 10, this allotment is being distributed to all employees in the children’s hospital and pediatric primary care clinics; solid organ transplant and bone marrow transplant services; cancer center clinics, including hematology and oncology and infusion centers; and to all pregnant health care workers, Adler said.

“We will continue to offer the vaccine to our highest-risk patients—pregnant women and children,” he said. “We expect more shipments over the next several weeks so we can offer the vaccine to all employees.”

Occupational Health Services is administering the vaccine. Employees should talk to their manager to determine how to receive the vaccine.

The first shipment of vaccine was distributed last week to UCSF employees in high-risk units – the Emergency Department, Urgent Care, pediatric primary care and critical care units—and to high-risk patients.
