UCOP Launches New Professional Development Fellowship Program for UC staff

The University of California Office of the President (UCOP) is pleased to announce the launch of the Presidential Fellowship Pilot Program for 2008, a new staff development initiative aimed at giving UC staff the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of and contributions to the University. Selected staff will pursue various projects that coincide with their own interests as well as those of the Office of the President. The objective is to provide firsthand experience in working at the highest levels of UC while gaining professional guidance on unique tasks. Under the direction of the associate president, the Presidential Fellowship Pilot Program will afford participants the opportunity to engage in the culture, policies, and decision-making processes of Office of the President. Through observation of and participation in higher education administration at the top level, fellows will experience an effective learning process in educational leadership, administrative organization and change strategies. The term of the fellowship will be January 1, 2008, through June 30, 2008, and will be awarded to staff currently employed at the PSS I to MSP II level. Due to budgetary constraints, the fellowship will be limited to UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Office of the President, UCSF, UC Santa Cruz and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. The application period is from Monday, July 16 through Friday, August 31, 2007. For more information or to apply, please visit the website.
