Theft and Drowning Reported at Mission Bay

A theft was reported Monday afternoon, April 10 at the Community Center at UCSF Mission Bay, says UCSF Chief of Police Pamela Roskowski. Several laptop computers and some personal property were stolen. UCSF Police received a 911 call shortly before 2 p.m., and immediately responded. Several witnesses reported that at least one person chased the suspect and lost sight of him near the canal northeast of the UCSF Mission Bay campus. Police and fire personnel searched the area. Shortly thereafter, an unknown male subject matching the suspect description was discovered in the canal. He was believed to have drowned. Further investigation is underway by both the UCSF Police Department and the San Francisco Police Department. Those with any information about this incident are requested to contact UCSF Police Department Sergeant Ed Huang at 415/476-1414. UCSF Police Department will be organizing a crime prevention meeting at Mission Bay later this week - a separate announcement will be made about that meeting.
