The field of dentistry is changing rapidly, with advances such as 3-D imaging, laser technology and minimally invasive dentistry creating an explosion of new possibilities for research and clinical practice. Long recognized as a national leader, UCSF is meeting these challenges by preparing the next generation of clinicians and educators in dental, oral and craniofacial sciences.

The School of Dentistry is redoubling its efforts to train outstanding students who will make the most of these oral health-care advances and bring the best possible care to patients in the Bay Area and beyond. As the preeminent dental research institution in the world, the School offers students the opportunity to work with and learn from the most innovative investigators. Because the School is also California’s largest provider of dental care to the elderly, disabled and needy through the Denti-Cal program, students have a unique opportunity to acquire the clinical experience they need to be outstanding caregivers.
