Institute for Global Health
for a healthier world
UCSF’s
Institute for Global Health (IGH) applies advances in biotechnology
and health care to grievous global health problems.
A collaboration between UCSF, UC Berkeley and several leading
corporations and organizations in the Bay Area, the IGH brings
together the strengths of these partners to address the needs
of the world’s most vulnerable populations and fight diseases
of poverty and neglect: HIV, malaria, tuberculosis, environmentally
related illness and childhood infections. IGH staff in San
Francisco work with prominent scientists and political leaders
to conduct research, provide high-level training and influence
health policies in the public and private sectors.
Gifts to this priority will fund research, provide training and
support efforts to stimulate action by governments, corporations
and international agencies.
