design, protein ligand interactions, and protein structure
Our
projects fall into two major areas. Our primary project is aimed
at the design of new bioactive molecules based on steric and physical
principles. A computer program, DOCK, can explore a large number
of alternative molecular structures for "goodness-of-fit" to the
active sites of enzymes of known structure.
This
procedure offers a novel method for seeking new and highly specific
enzyme inhibitors. We also remain interested in predicting protein
tertiary structure using experimental constraints and in classifying
protein structures.
