PharmD/PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacogenomics
First, second
and third year UCSF pharmacy students are invited to apply
by January 15 to enter this combined degree program in the following
fall quarter (January 15, 2008 for fall 2009).
The combined
PharmD/PhD degree will make you uniquely qualified to translate
basic research into clinical applications. For example, your laboratory,
in a pharmaceutical company, might study the genetic variability
in drug transporters at the molecular level and then be able to
follow up with the relevant clinical studies to determine the
impact of this variability on appropriate drug selection and patient
care. In an academic career, you would greatly expand your potential
research topics and be able to clearly show
students the relevance of the basic sciences to professional practice.
Interested students are required to formally apply to the Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacogenomics Graduate Program. You can also visit the Pharmaceutical
Sciences and Pharmacogenomics web site and read the FAQ
sheet attached to this notice.
