Faculty Research Lecture Award to Zena Werb

Zena WerbZena Werb, PhD, professor of anatomy, is the recipient of the 44th Annual Faculty Research Lecture Award, the Academic Senate has announced.

Each year this distinction acknowledges the outstanding scientific achievements made by a member of the Academic Senate. Academic Senate members are asked to consider the contributions of their colleagues so that their achievements may be recognized by the University community.

Werb, a member of the UCSF faculty since 1976, has authored more than 270 papers in scholarly journals and books. She has made seminal and pioneering contributions to the understanding of the fundamental role of extracellular matrix and extracellular matrix-degrading matrix metalloproteinases in regulating development, angiogenesis and cancer.

 The 44th Faculty Research Lecture will be held during Founder’s Week on Tuesday, April 17, 2001, 2 p.m, in Cole Hall.

The topic of her lecture will be "The Degradation Monologues: A career in proteolysis."
