Medical Center Toy Drive

A holiday toy drive is being held for children at the UCSF Medical Center. New, unwrapped toys and items that can be used for stocking stuffers and bingo prizes can be placed in barrels in the lobbies of Long/Moffitt (505 Parnassus), Ambulatory Care Center (400 Parnassus) and the Cancer Center (1600 Divisadero).

To make the toys best for the children, please follow these guidelines:

  • Toys must be new and unwrapped.
  • Toys can only be used if they are filled with fabric or solid foam. No shredded foam, small pellets, or beans used as filler.
  • Avoid toys with detachable parts (like button eyes) which can be removed and swallowed or inhaled.
  • Fire regulations forbid electrical/spark-producing/friction toys.
  • Toys should be sturdy. Avoid toys that can break and leave sharp edges. Toys should not be made of glass or brittle plastic. Also avoid toys with sharp edges or protrusions that can be poked into eyes.
  • Painted toys should be nontoxic. Any glue or paint in craft kits also must be nontoxic.
  • Toys with numerous small parts also are not appropriate.

For more information, call 353-1936.
