UC, CUE Reach Agreement on First Contract

The University of California and Coalition of University Employees (CUE) announced Thursday (November 9) that they have reached a tentative agreement on a first contract for the clerical and allied services bargaining unit.

The tentative agreement provides wage increases for 1999-2000, 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 budget years. The contract would expire Sept. 30, 2001.

The University's 2001-02 proposed budget, which will be presented to the UC Board of Regents next week, includes an additional augmentation for staff salaries that lag behind the market averages.

The UC-CUE tentative wage agreement for clerical staff includes the following:

  • Effective 10-1-99 -- 2.8 percent salary range adjustment.
  • Effective 10-1-99 -- Regular merit increase for eligible employees.
  • Effective 7-1-00 -- 2 percent salary range adjustment.
  • Effective 10-1-00 -- 2 percent salary range adjustment.
  • Effective 10-1-00 -- Regular merit increase for eligible employees.
  • Effective 10-1-00 - An additional step to the maximum of the salary range.
  • Effective 9-1-01 -- 1 percent salary range adjustment.
  • Plus $100 to each career employee on the date both parties sign the agreement.

CUE represents approximately 18,000 clerical employees at UC.
