New Director of Research Planning

Rebecca Trumbull has been appointed director of research planning. She will be responsible for guiding the development of new research initiatives at UCSF, said Zach Hall, vice chancellor for research, who announced the appointment.

Trumbull will work with faculty and other administrators to identify promising areas of research, bring together groups of faculty and staff to develop specific programs, and assist in obtaining the resources necessary to support them.

She has already begun to work on the proposal for the UCSF Institute in Bioengineering, Biotechnology and Quantitative Biology, which has been selected as one of six finalists for the California Institutes of Science and Innovation. She will also coordinate the administration of extramurally-funded faculty awards programs.

Trumbull comes to UCSF from the University of Pennsylvania, where she was a senior planning associate in the Office of the President and the Office of the Dean of the School of Medicine.
