Top Students, Faculty Honored at Nursing Commencement The School of Nursing held commencement ceremonies for 130 masters and 20 doctoral students last Friday at the Masonic Memorial Auditorium. KaYee Alice Mack was honored as the Outstanding Master of Science Student for demonstrating leadership, scholarship, expertise in the area of specialization, and potential for significant contribution to nursing and scholarship. Jill Anne Bennett received the Distinguished Dissertation Award in Nursing, which recognizes the doctoral student whose dissertation best exemplifies scholarliness and innovation, and best contributes to the discipline of nursing. Maria Victoria Mangini won the Nursing Alumni Student Award for Meritorious Service, which goes to a graduating student who, while enrolled in the School of Nursing, made a significant contribution to the community. Suzanne Eder, master of science student, and Paulina Patterson, doctoral student, were commencement speakers. The graduating class also honored Ellen Scarr, associate clinical professor, family health care nursing, for Excellence in Teaching, MS Program; and Afaf Meleis, professor, community health systems, as Mentor of the Year, Doctoral Program. |
