Celebrate, Raise Funds for Cancer Patient Services

The Women's Philharmonic is dedicating its season finale concert to raise funds for the Cancer Resource Center, located at UCSF/Mount Zion.

The performance will be held on Friday, May 26, 8 p.m., at the Herbst Theatre, 401 Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco.

The Ida and Joseph Friend Cancer Resource Center, the beneficiary of the concert, provides free supportive care and information services to cancer patients and their loved ones.

The special May 26 concert will be preceded by a 5:30 p.m. cocktail party for donors and a presentation by Visual Aid, an art show by artists with life-threatening illnesses. That will be followed by a "Meet the Music" pre-concert talk with the Women’s Philharmonic artistic director and conductor Apo Hsu at 7 p.m.

The Women's Philharmonic is described as "the voice for women in orchestral music." Since its inception in 1981, the orchestra has presented works by more than 160 women composers, including 140 World, US and West Coast premieres, and commissioned more than 50 works.

For more information on purchasing tickets to this event, visit the UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center’s website, which includes all the details or call the Cancer Resource Center at 415/885-3693.
