Medical Center Toy Drive

A toy drive for children at the UCSF Medical Center is now under way. New, unwrapped toys, including those that can be used as stocking stuffers and bingo prizes, can be dropped off in the Moffitt or ACC lobby.

Here are some guidelines:

  • Toys can only be used if they are filled with fabric or solid foam -- no shredded foam, small pellets, or beans used as filler.

  • Avoid toys with detachable parts (like button eyes) which can be removed and swallowed or inhaled.

  • Fire regulations forbid electrical, spark producing, or friction toys. Toys should be sturdy -- avoid those that can break and leave sharp edges.

  • Toys should not be made of glass or brittle plastic.

  • Avoid toys with sharp edges or protrusions that can be poked into eyes.

  • Painted toys should be nontoxic. Any glue or paint in craft kits also must be nontoxic.

  • Toys with numerous small parts are not appropriate.
