1st appeared 3 September 1999 School of Medicine Receives Accreditation for Continuing Medical Education The UCSF School of Medicine has recently been awarded a four-year accreditation as a sponsor of continuing medical education for physicians by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). The UCSF Continuing Medical Education (CME) program, the second largest in the country, provides physicians with the latest information on patient care, new treatments, new medications and research through educational activities including lectures, conferences, and hands-on workshops. These opportunities enable physicians to improve and expand skills and to maintain and seek high standards of practice for the benefit of patients. UCSF’s CME program produces approximately 250 activities each year. "The award recognizes various departments’ efforts to make program improvements and the hard work of UCSF’s CME governing board," said Mark Madsen, director of the UCSF Continuing Medical Education program.
