UCSF Stanford Announces Management Changes

Peter Van EttenPeter Van Etten, chief executive officer, and Bill Kerr, chief operating officer, announced today (Monday) that they will resign from their positions, effective Aug. 16.

Isaac Stein, chairman of the UCSF Stanford Board of Directors, said, "Peter and Bill wanted to facilitate any organizational changes arising from the study requested last week by Stanford and the University of California and we felt that it was appropriate to accept their resignations. We have asked David Hunter and the Hunter Group to take over these roles and provide interim management. Our board will continue to work closely with Hunter during this transition. Also, on an interim basis, Bill Kerr will remain at the UCSF campus."

Bill KerrStein praised Van Etten and Kerr for their contributions and service.

"On behalf of our board, I want to thank both Peter and Bill for the many years of outstanding leadership they have provided in their previous roles at the UCSF and Stanford hospitals and to UCSF Stanford Health Care."
