UCSF to Host Summer Camps Once Again
UCSF summer camps are returning after a one-year hiatus. UCSF summer day camps, run by
Millberry Programs & Services and Outdoors Unlimited, will be beginning their 8th
season on June 14.
Serving the children of UCSF students, employees and the general community, the philosophy
of the camps is to foster exploration and awareness for the outdoors, so children leave
the campus with a new-found appreciation of where they live. UCSF day camps choose fun and
engaging activities that suit a child's age and interests, blending traditional camp
crafts with adventure and outdoor education into two-week sessions.
"It's going to be a great, great summer," said Jolie Karno, who was recently
hired as director of the day camps. She said they will be offering an updated version of
the three programs that were offered in previous years: Sea Lions Discovery camp for 6-8
year olds, Bobcats Discovery camp for 8-11 year olds, and Bay Area Explorers for 9-12 year
olds.
UCSF students, staff and Millberry members can register beginning Thursday, March 25 from
7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the MU fitness center, 500 Parnassus Ave. The general public can begin
to register Friday, March 26, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Ongoing registration hours will be available
(call 476-1469).
A non-refundable $50 deposit is required for each registration space and registration must
be done in person.
For more information call 476-1469.
