Dean to Discuss Merger, Employee Stress

Haile Debas, dean of the School of Medicine, will give a mid-year Faculty Address on Tuesday, February 23, beginning at 3:30 p.m. in Cole Hall. He will address the following issues of critical importance to the faculty and the School of Medicine:

  • The second revolution in health care
  • UCSF Stanford clinical merger
  • Stresses on faculty and staff
  • Malpractice coverage
  • Mission Bay and its impact on Parnassus and SFGHMC
  • Parnassus/Mt. Zion program planning
  • Education

The 45-minute talk will be followed by an Academic Senate Town Hall Meeting on the UCSF Stanford clinical merger. Topics will include:

  • The budget crunch -- what income and expense expectations have not been met?
  • The effect of the merger on the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy -- opportunities and dangers, funds flow.
  • Service lines -- where are they? where are they going?

The entire campus community is welcome to attend both the Dean's Address and the Town Hall Meeting.

A video relay will be available to SFGHMC Medical Library Conference Room; Mt. Zion Herbst Hall; VAMC Bldg. 200, Rm. 1A122.
