1st appeared 9 September 1998 Join UCSF in Race for the Cure Represent UCSF and help raise money for breast cancer research and projects by joining the UCSF Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center in the upcoming Race for the Cure. Attracting over 500,000 participants in 86 cities nationwide, these 5K runs have become the largest series of foot races in the country. A majority of the proceeds fund local and national community programs related to breast health education, screening, treatment and research. In 1997, Race for the Cure raised over $500,000; this year, organizers aim to raise $1 million.
The Race for the Cure is on Sunday, October 18 at 8:30 a.m., and will take place in Golden Gate Park's Sharon Meadow. Distance is 5K for runners and one mile for walkers. For more information or to join the UCSF Race for the Cure team, call Kristin at 415/353-7672. WHY YOU SHOULD RUN
