ABOG to Host Technology Expo on Thursday

On Thursday, the Millberry Union Conference Center will be transformed into a mini-technology expo, featuring seminars on the latest technology issues at UCSF and hi-tech vendors exhibiting their products. Sponsored by the Academic Business Officers Group (ABOG), the fair will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Exhibitors include Iomega, PeopleSoft, MicroAge and Education Advantage and seminar topics include the On-line Financial System (OLFS) and UC computer usage policies. Keynote Speaker Larry Blevins, CIO of UCSF Stanford Health Care, will present "Information Technology and the Academic Medical Center: A Futuristic View" at noon.

"There's a lot of technology out there that can make things easier for folks and this is a way that we can show it to them," said Michael Braisted, co-chair of ABOG. It also gives the campus community a forum to discuss the current state of technology at UCSF and to find out what direction it is heading, he said. A topic that is scheduled to be discussed throughout the day is OLFS.

"So much is happening now with OLFS -- the fair gives us a great chance to see what people are doing with it," Braisted said.
