Community Members Gather to Discuss Violence in San Francisco

Bay Area educators, parents, teens, police and community leaders will join together to view a national teleconference and discuss collaborative plans to prevent violence and promote peace in San Francisco on Wednesday, May 13 at UCSF/Mount Zion from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with a discussion from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Audience members will begin their discussion after viewing and participating in a live national teleconference that will explore multiple themes such as the roots of violence and its relationship to other aspects of US culture, the need for an informed and multi-level approach to violence prevention planning, and keys to successful collaboration.

The event is hosted by the UCSF/Mount Zion Violence Prevention Project and Harvard School of Public Health, Violence Prevention Programs; and sponsored by the US Department of Education, Safe and Drug Free Schools Program; US Department of Health and Human Services, including the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Center for Injury Prevention, and Indian Health Services; and the US Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
