Mission Center Building Is Answer to Contest #5

Mission Center BuildingMany people had the correct answer to the last Daybreak contest, which was, by the way, Mission Center Building. The first three people to respond with the correct answer, and to win a Daybreak mug, were Lisa S. Blutman, Frances Lee and Jill Lezama.

If you didn't win this time, try again on Monday for another chance at winning. In the meantime, here's some history:

At Folsom and 15th Streets, this six-story, 291,000-square-foot building is three miles away from the Parnassus campus. Constructed in 1927, the Mission Center Building (MCB) is a six-story brick structure that used to be known as the Center for Education Development. UCSF purchased the second, third and fourth floors of the building in 1977 and in 1989 purchased the first, fifth and sixth floors, forming a single ownership under the University.

Many of the over 1,000 employees at MCB work in accounting departments and back-office support for the hospitals. Radiation oncology and microbiology and immunology laboratories are housed on the second floor. Mail Services, Parking and Transportation and Campus Police are also headquartered at Mission Center. And on the ground floor is a UCSF childcare center.

For more information on Mission Center, read a previous Daybreak article on this UCSF site.
