Kids Get the Beat at Special Orchestra Performance

Chancellor Haile T. Debas and the UCSF OrchestraChancellor Haile T. Debas joined the UCSF Orchestra on Saturday for its performance of Serge Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf. Debas provided narration for the special children's concert, which raised funds for the orchestra and the UCSF Child Care Center. Mark Swanson, who currently serves on the orchestra conducting staff of the San Francisco Conservatory where he directs the Conservatory Chamber Orchestra, was guest conductor.

Scores of adults and children packed into Millberry Gymnasium to hear the orchestra perform two pieces, Peter and the Wolf and Modest Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain. Empact! and the UCSF Child Care Study Center sponsored the event.
